This course is designed to provide an understanding of how better construction practices can increase building sustainability and longevity. Discover how POLYISO Insulation Air & WRB systems contribute to meeting energy code requirements and outperform traditional water resistive barrier materials and constructive methods. Learn about the science behind thermal, air and moisture control, in projects of steel stud construction. Review building and energy code requirements relative to building envelop design and performance.

Liquid applied membranes should not be confused with coatings. The effectiveness and versatility of fluid applied membranes often make them the only viable solution for complex waterproofing problems. This seminar will focus on the use of such systems as an alternative to conventional roof systems and a solution to challenging waterproofing problems. The use of these systems in historic preservation, façade repair and building envelope waterproofing will also be examined. Attendees will:
- Gain an overall awareness of the various fluid applied roofing & waterproofing membranes.
- Examine the basic differences between fluid applied membranes and coatings.
- Review field installation considerations.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Sean Fraker is National Manager of Sika’s Liquid Applied Roofing and Waterproofing business unit. Sean started his roofing career in 1990 selling and developing hot build up systems. He has experience in manufacturing, marketing, technical, and sales of various building envelope systems but his primary focus and passion is with liquid applied systems. Sean has a Bachelors degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He resides in Bradenton, FL with his family.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
JOSH BONE /@BIM2theBone
Construction Technologist | Professional Speaker | Industry Advisor | Podcaster
For more than two decades, Josh Bone has been implementing, training and presenting construction technology solutions to AEC&O (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Owners) professionals. He specializes in identifying best practices and methodologies for integrating construction technology into everyday workflows. Josh has worked with companies like JBKnowledge, Graphisoft and Stanley Black & Decker. Today he works with Caisson, a company focused on helping drive technology adoption within the trades. Josh envisions the trades playing a more active role in the design phases of projects in the future (DfMA), helping drive the increased delivery of offsite construction methods. He is a frequent professional speaker, guest editorial contributor and host on The ConTech Crew podcast.
This keynote session, presented by construction technologist Josh Bone, will address the impact of building materials technologies in all phases of construction—from design to development—that not only provide those benefits but make it possible to extend the feasible time for construction. With increasing skilled labor shortages and shrinking working seasons, installers and contractors must make every minute count. Through this session attendees can earn AIA credits and will discover how to re-imagine construction for tomorrow.

Codes in Construction
How can you look at market conditions, challenges, risks and opportunity through a seemingly never ending stream of regulation? You have to be attuned to and manage building codes that regulate performance, economics and social aspects. These codes add time and money, sometimes up to a third the cost of the entire project. This panel, representing all aspects of construction, will share insights, best practices and more through a candid conversation with expert moderator.
